I am considering using Linode, but I can't tell from their website whether it is possible to save the state of your Linode node, shut it down and restart it from where you left off. AWS can do this with EBS-backed instances, but AWS is a pain to use. I would like to be able to keep a Linux cloud instance and start and stop it as needed. I would use it only for development work, so it doesn't need to be up all the time.
